Wanted to share this piece of meme analysis from a couple years ago. Unfortunately its the first of a series that never continued. The blog has a clear thesis around highlighting worker discontent and class struggle in China's work places, and in my opinion does solid work documenting the phenomenon of internal migrant workers. As China develops into a more industrialized/information economy, a process of ongoing accumulation by appropriation removing people from the countryside has occurred. The new mobile "doubly free" proletariat in China is one of the largest emergent social classes in the world. Scholars outside of China have struggled to rigorously study this development, so meme studies in this case has implications for understanding broader social trends.
